Happenings in Amsterdam for the long weekend of July 1 - 5

I suppose it is officially summer: we finally have swimsuit temperate weather, the City is already getting quieter as the many leave for holiday, and yesterday was the last night of the free Bimhuis concerts until September; but that doesn't mean there is nothing to do! In fact this long weekend is packed with activities, check out the Over het IJ Festival, Blijburg, and live music on the Spiegelgracht on Sunday. I just hope the weather sticks for the weekend, but if not there are plenty of films to see. And lots of stuff for the kids, at the very bottom of this post.

Again I kindly ask you to "buy me a beer" via clicking on ads on the left side, as I am not getting paid anything to make this and thus rely on your support. Have a wonderful weekend and oh yes I shouldn't forget "Happy Canada Day" Canadians and on the 4th to the Americans - "Happy Independence Day"!:)

It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.
Through vérité footage and in-depth conversations, the film documents the creative processes of some of the world’s most influential product designers, and looks at how the things they make impact our lives.
